What we see in West Yorkshire
We take a fair volume of Listed Building Joinery work across West Yorkshire, and almost none of it repeats. You are mostly dealing with millstone grit terraces, weavers' cottages and Victorian civic frontages around here, so openings vary more than people expect. Pennine exposure with hard frost and horizontal rain is the local complication, and frost damage at end grain and blown joints on exposed hillside stock is what it eventually causes. Everything we do here comes back to replication accurate enough to satisfy a like-for-like condition.
Manufacture only starts once the survey figures are agreed with you in writing. Tell us the problem rather than the solution and we will advise on both.
One thing that catches people out here: gritstone reveals hold water against frames, so drainage detail is critical.

Do you cover West Yorkshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of West Yorkshire including Leeds, Bradford, Huddersfield, Wakefield and the surrounding villages. Gritstone reveals hold water against frames, so drainage detail is critical. Because Pennine exposure with hard frost and horizontal rain, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
How do you handle glazing?
Standard double glazed units for most work, and slim-cavity units where a conservation officer has restricted sightlines. Single glazing with putty lines is available where the consent requires it.
What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
