Conservation joinery in Seaham
The Paint Analysis and Matching we make for Seaham is set out from a survey, not a size chart. Property here runs to colliery terraces, Georgian Durham city stock and Pennine stone housing, and each of those brings its own set of dimensions. The weather does the rest: cold upland winters with heavy rainfall here, and frost and saturation damage on unmaintained painted softwood as the predictable result. What you are paying for is matching the historic colour rather than defaulting to brilliant white.
A surveyor visits first and records the real dimensions, at several points on each opening. Send us sizes and a photograph and we will come back with a fixed written price.
A local consideration we always raise: Durham's cathedral setting carries World Heritage-level design scrutiny.

What guarantee do you provide?
Ten years on workmanship, covering manufacture and the factory-applied finish. Where we install, the installation is covered too. It is issued in writing with the handover paperwork.
Can you match an existing profile?
Yes. If you can supply a section, a photograph with a rule in shot, or an old unit, we can replicate the profile. For conservation work this is usually the condition the planning officer will apply.
What if the opening is out of square?
Most older openings are. The survey records the actual dimensions at several points and the unit is manufactured to suit, which is the main reason we survey rather than work from the sizes given over the phone.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
