What we see in Bedfordshire
Listed Building Joinery in Bedfordshire is rarely a catalogue job. Property here runs to Victorian hat-trade terraces, chalk-belt cottages and large modern estates, and each of those brings its own set of dimensions. dry inland conditions with cold winter frost pockets is the local complication, and frost damage to end grain and paint cracking on older softwood units is what it eventually causes. Everything we do here comes back to replication accurate enough to satisfy a like-for-like condition.
The site visit comes first, because assumptions made in an office get paid for on site. Ask us for a figure and you will get one, with the lead time stated alongside it.
One local point to factor in: Bedfordshire stock is dominated by repair and upgrade rather than heritage matching.

Verified client, BedfordshireBedfordshire questions
Do you cover Bedfordshire?
Yes. We cover the whole of Bedfordshire including Luton, Bedford, Dunstable, Leighton Buzzard and the surrounding villages. Bedfordshire stock is dominated by repair and upgrade rather than heritage matching. Because dry inland conditions with cold winter frost pockets, we allow for it at survey stage rather than discovering it on the day.
Do you fit, or supply only?
Both. Supply-only is common for trade and contractor clients. For private clients we usually recommend supply and fit, because responsibility for the fit and the finish then sits in one place.
Will the finish need maintaining?
A factory-applied microporous finish typically needs inspection every three to five years, sooner on exposed coastal elevations. Maintaining it is far cheaper than letting a coating fail and the timber take up water.
Do you work in hardwood or softwood?
Both. Engineered hardwood is the default where movement or exposure is a concern, and slow-grown softwood is often the better value choice for painted work in sheltered positions. We will tell you which we would specify and why.
Do you take a deposit?
Not before the measured survey. A deposit is only requested once the survey is complete and you have approved the final schedule and price.
Can you price from drawings?
Yes. Send a drawing set or a schedule and we will price against it. If anything is ambiguous we will query it before quoting rather than assume and reprice later.
